“Have your say on the snapshot of the people profession”

We’re inviting you to take part in the CIPD’s annual survey on the people profession – a key opportunity for HR and people professionals* to share their perspectives. Your input will help us understand the trends shaping people practice today, the challenges and priorities you face, and how you feel about your career and working life as the world of work continues to evolve.

This research will plays a vital role in informing CIPD policy, thought leadership and practical support for the profession. The findings will be published later this year, providing a clear, evidence-based snapshot of the people profession and amplifying the voice of practitioners like you.

The survey is now live https://www.cipdinsights.co.uk/oa/6dd683 and will be open until 8th June 2026.

* Suitable respondents must be currently working in an HR/people function, not just have HR responsibilities as part of their role. All specialisms with the people profession are welcome to complete the survey as well as independent HR consultants.

  • Hi Rebecca, I did try again and ticked different boxes. However, I wanted to highlight the fact that my role (which definitely isn't unique, it's a common model in the charity sector where "People" often specifically means HR AND Volunteering) didn't fit the criteria. Perhaps something to consider for future years?

    Best wishes,

    Gemma

  • Thanks  I appreciate the reply and I went in again and again. Each time I had to guess which was the 'right answer' as I've been blocked at different phases including the one Steven mentions.

I appreciate the survey is in conjunction with YouGov and so might not be within your control to influence in terms of design.

I can't, hand on heart share this with my network when it's a challenge and time consuming as a user to navigate and complete it myself. It will likely backfire and that feels counterproductive to what the overall intention is.

I'm sharing that feedback here in the safety of the community as I know the CIPD sometimes gets complaints rather than feedback and I really don't want this to inform the survey for the future so it can include a bigger, broader audience.

  • Thank you for the collective responses Steven, Gemma and Sharon. I'm going to check that routing of the survey is correct because it certainly sounds like some of you are being wrongly omitted from the survey. Thanks for raising these concerns.
