The CIPD asked over 1,000 people professionals across different levels of seniority and industries about their career: their current challenges, how they feel HR activities are perceived within their organisations.

Here is the analysis:

The pulse survey also analysed what people professionals said about their career and development opportunities within the profession. I'll start a new discussion about that Slight smile

Any thoughts on the survey findings?
  • In reply to Steve Bridger:

Well, I guess it's good that HR appears to be viewed more favourably and as more contributory to the success of the business in places where the HR person is a CIPD member. It's certainly an interesting correlation, although I think we should be cautious of drawing too much of a causative assumption from it.
  • Extremely close to marking our own homework here
Would be far more interesting and relevant to see a survey of teh corresponding 1000 business leaders in the same businesses and what their views were and then compare these to the HR Bods
Worrying unstragetic in places as well

    In reply to Keith:

Thanks Keith - yes, we do definitely acknowledge that this is only one perspective on the issue. Understanding the views of the general business audience, and leaders particularly, is equally important and in plan. We also have some work underway that draws together findings from the various academic studies into the impact of HR practices on performance. We'll post that here for the community's interest when it's out.
